Mr. Narad Dawoodarry is a seasoned professional with over four decades of experience in business development, public administration, and leadership within the public and maritime sectors.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Punjab University, India, qualified as a Chartered Secretary from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (London), and earned a Master of Science in Public Sector Management from the University of Technology, Mauritius. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK), he has also undertaken specialized training in port operations, logistics, and transportation management in several countries.
He began his career in the Civil Service in 1981 and later served at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Trust Fund for Disabled Persons before joining the Mauritius Ports Authority in 1993, where he held senior positions including Secretary, Administration Manager, and Director of Legal & Administrative Services. In 2022, he served as Business Development Consultant at the Mauritius Shipping Corporation Ltd.
He has also played key leadership roles in professional and community organizations and, as of 2025, serves as President of several institutions including the Corporate Governance Institute and the Afro Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while also holding international recognitions such as being named an International Honorary Citizen of New Orleans, USA.

I have 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, with expertise in compliance, financial crime risk management and governance. I joined Absa Bank (Mauritius) Limited in 2014 as Money Laundering Reporting Officer, marking the start of a progressive leadership journey within the organisation. Since then, I have held several senior roles of increasing responsibility, including Head of Financial Crime Compliance and Deputy Head of Compliance, before being appointed Head of Compliance and a member of the Executive Committee. In this role, I play a central part in shaping the bank’s compliance strategy, strengthening its governance framework, and managing regulatory engagement. I hold a BSc (Honours) in Economics from the University of Mauritius and have further developed my leadership capabilities through master classes at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in Strategic Thinking and Performance Coaching. I am also a certified Ethics Ambassador with The Ethics Institute of South Africa, reflecting my strong commitment to ethical leadership. Beyond the organisation, I have contributed at an industry level, having served as Chairperson of the Compliance Committee of the Mauritius Bankers Association. I completed the Advanced Management Programme at IMD Business School (Switzerland) in 2023 and, in 2024, successfully completed the Negotiation Programme at the London School of Economics, further strengthening my strategic and executive skill set.
